US places fresh coronavirus screening protocols for people entering

Cases of coronavirus are increasing on a global level everyday. The virus originated in the Wuhan province in China and has now managed to spread in many other countries and the respective governments are taking every possible measure to prevent the spread of the deadly virus. In the United States, the authorities have made a fresh protocol for the travelers who are entering the United States. The government officials are increasing the travel restrictions from the country of Iran and certain regions of Italy and South Korea. These countries are the worst hit of the epidemic after China.

President Donald Trump in a Tweet on March 1, 2020 announced that new screening procedures will be laid down for the people who are entering in the US from some of the high risk countries. Ban was already in place in terms of Iran, where the figures are alarming. But now the administration has said that it has been expanded and will include any foreign national who has travelled to Iran in the last 14 days. As of March 2, 2020 there are 978 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Iran and 54 deaths have been reported.

The US authorities is also preparing to keep a strict eye on the travelers from South Korea and Italy. Even the Americans are advised not to travel to the high risk countries which are hit the hardest by the virus. Katie Miller, the spokeswoman from Pence announced that they are currently working on an exit screening from South Korea, Italy and other nations in Europe. Alex Azar, the Health and Human Services Secretary has said that their aim is to minimize travel to and from some of the regions that have been affected the most that will help to control the spread of the virus.

People who are traveling from China are being screened. And any person who has traveled to China in the past 14 days need to be screened.
