While a number of nations are still dealing with the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, a few nations have eased some of the travel restrictions. The nations are taking the steps as a contribution to get back on track post lockdowns to get the economy rolling. The United Kingdom is one of the countries that has also eased the restrictions and are allowing tourists to enter. Basic information
The United Kingdom has faced one of the worst times during the pandemic with the highest number of deaths in the world. The country was also the first in the world to begin the vaccination drive but still experienced a deadly second wave. It was in January, 2021 when the country had gone in to a complete lockdown which has been eased now but certain places like Wales, Scotland, England and North Ireland.
All the travelers including the British citizens who are entering the country, need to present a negative COVID-19 test that is taken within 72 hours of their arrival. The residents of UK, who are travelling from some of the red list countries like India, Namibia, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates can also enter the country, but they will have to quarantine themselves at a hotel room and also follow the testing requirements. Till today, the international flights to some of the places like Wales and Northern Ireland continue to remain closed.
All travellers arriving in the UK need to test negative with a test taken within 72 hours of arrival. They will also have to complete a passenger locator form before they arrive in the country. As of June 14, 2021 more than 128,000 deaths have been reported but now it is feared that UK might be in the early stages of the third wave.
