There have been mystic tales about the origin of the Northern Lights. Our ancestors believed that they were spirits who came down to touch the earth. However, with logic and modern science, the phenomenon that is the Northern Lights, or as it is known – Aurora Borealis, takes place when particles from the solar wind crash with the atmosphere. It is almost magical to watch the changing colors that go from green to orange to purple and every other Unicorn color in between! The best place to view the Lights from is apparently Tromso in Norway. A point to remember is that you can see it only in the night in certain seasons, so make sure to check with your tourist guide before venturing to witness this spectacular occurrence.
