Nubra Valley
Another picturesque landscape en route to Leh-Ladakh is Nubra Valley. Rugged, vast, peaceful and exotic are some of the words that can manage to describe this beautiful setting of alpine trees, slanting rocky hills and snowy mountains. The route from Hunder to Diksit to the Nubra valley is one ladedn with changing sceneries, versatile forms of nature sometimes surrounded with lush greenery and soaring peaks while at other times completely filled with snow or white sand dunes and an oasis in between.
The Diksit monastery is home to the tallest Buddha statue – a colorful, magnanimous and aesthetically spectacular place of worship. The valley is formed as a result of converging rivers, Shyok and Siachen. Camping amid forests or in proper tents with all modern amenities and alongside streams of water and Protective Mountains is a great way to spend holidays here. Double-humped Bactrian camel rides while watching extraordinary sunsets in clear sky making shadows on the sand dunes and casting its amazing colors on the rivulets around here is another must-do activity in this ethereal and majestic setting.
