Home to the period drama, Downton Abbey, Highclere Castle is now home to the Earl of Carnarvon and stretches to nearly 5,000 acres. It’s open to the public for 2 months in the year, but sometimes allows visitors at other times as well. It seems that Highclere was in dire need of repairs that amounted to millions of pounds, but thanks to Downton Abbey and paying tourists, the Earl can now reside for longer at this beautiful location that dates back hundreds of years.
